When to move your email and files to Microsoft 365.
The common triggers: you're still on a hosted email plan from your domain registrar and it's failing you; you're paying for Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 at the same time and nobody remembers why; or an employee left months ago and you just realized their mailbox is still active. Cyber-insurance applications are another big one. The forms now ask about MFA point blank, and "no" raises your premium or kills the policy. And if a phishing email just got someone's password, that's not a trigger, that's a fire. Call.
Common questions.
Will we lose email during the migration?
No. Mail keeps flowing during the copy, and we schedule the final cutover for an evening or weekend. The next business morning, everyone opens Outlook and their mail, folders, and calendar are there. We stay on call that morning for stragglers.
Is Office 365 migration the same as Microsoft 365 migration?
Yes. Microsoft renamed Office 365 to Microsoft 365 in 2020, and both names still circulate. An Office 365 migration and a Microsoft 365 migration are the same project: moving your email, files, and accounts into Microsoft's cloud. Whatever name is on your old invoice, the work is identical.
We're on Google Workspace. Can you move us to Microsoft 365?
Yes. Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 is one of the most common migrations we run. Mail, calendars, contacts, and Drive files come across, and we rebuild Google's sharing in SharePoint and OneDrive so permissions make sense on the other side. The cutover works the same way: copy first, switch on a quiet evening, support in the morning.
Our staff will push back on MFA. Is it really necessary?
Yes. It's the single highest-value security control for the money, and most insurers now require it. We keep it light: app-based prompts instead of typed codes, and we enroll people in small groups with a one-page guide. Pushback usually evaporates after day two.
Which Microsoft 365 license should a small business buy?
For most offices, Business Premium. It bundles email, Office apps, and the security features (Intune, advanced identity protection) that we'd otherwise have to bolt on. Lighter-duty users can sit on Business Basic. We audit what you have and frequently find savings that offset our fee.
